Any foreigner wishing to travel to Niger must be in possession of a valid passport or other documentation from his country recognised by the Republic of Niger as an official travel document, and an entry visa to Niger.
The visa is compulsory to enter Niger except for nationals of member countries of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and of certain States with which Niger is bound by agreements on visa abolition. Of a short stay of 90 days. These states are Tunisia, Morocco, Chad, Cuba, Algeria, Turkey, and Indonesia for diplomatic and service passports.
However, nationals of countries that have concluded an agreement for the reciprocal abolition of the visa who, during a stay in Niger, are the subject of either an expulsion order or of a decision to refuse the visa, will have their residence permit withdrawn. The withdrawal of a residence permit prohibits residence in Niger, and they are subject to the visa formality to return to Niger.
The entry visa to Niger is an entry and residence permit for a limited period of time in Niger, issued by the competent Nigerien authorities. This authorisation is embodied at the consulate of Niger in the UK, by the affixing of a stamp in lieu of a visa. However, the possession of a visa to Niger does not confer an irrevocable entry.
